Plan-Design-Build Together
Our one-contact solution ensures Sterling is accountable from design to installation. This gives you the freedom to:
When it is time to expand your capacity, Sterling will design and engineer the new line(s) to ensure it works in unison with your existing layout. You won’t need to go through the hassle of a separate design firm followed by a mechanical installer.
We use every step of the construction process to maximize efficiency: the layout of the engine room, piping design, placement of valves and specialized training on all the new processes to ensure that you have the most cost efficient and high performance refrigeration system possible. It all starts with your customized engineered design which then gets properly executed during the installation.
Compressor Inspections
Your compressors are the heart of your system. Routine vibration and oil analysis is like a wellness check: it prevents failure before it happens.
We follow manufacturer-recommended best practices to detect early signs of wear and tear and extend equipment life.
Process Safety Management (PSM)
Our PSM team and engineering group help make compliance less complex and more effective. Our partnership with APSM gives customers real-time visibility into system records, inspections, and safety demands, including:
Preventative Maintenance (PM)
Reliable Replacement Parts
We carry and source replacement parts for every major component in your refrigeration system, including:

Technical/Projects
Yes! Every one of our refrigeration systems is designed specifically for our customer’s need. We pride ourselves on learning and asking questions specific to their process before proposing a refrigeration solution.
We design, build, and commission all of our systems. We believe owning the project cradle to grave creates a better customer experience and leaves less room for the details to get lost in communication.
Absolutely! Some of our favorite projects are the hard projects. We have had to build temporary engine rooms to keep a facility running while expanding it at the same time!
Operations & support
We do! We typically offer ongoing maintenance in our service areas. We service the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Ohio, Kentucky, and surrounding areas.
Our warranties typically include the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with the parts or equipment purchased. For new projects, we offer a 1-year warranty on the system with the option to extend the warranty for 2 years or longer!
We know that the work we do – from engineering to service – impacts the safety of our people, our customers’ people, and the communities near where we work. Sterling has dedicated site supervisors to assure safety and compliance and a dedicated safety manager to assure we are all doing our part for safety.
In addition, we conduct 3rd party safety audits once a year to make sure we are staying up to date and our people get to make it home safely. On a more fun note, we also have an annual Safety Cup where we compete with continuing education, sharing near miss experiences, and safety meeting attendance to reward those that are going above and beyond to make sure we are working safely.
Sustainability & Innovation
We do! The vast majority of our business is ammonia and carbon dioxide (CO2) refrigeration systems for industrial applications. With that said, we still design and install synthetic refrigerant systems when the application makes sense.
This is a tricky question to answer as the regulatory environment seems to change multiple times a year. The way we address the potential phasedowns and technology restrictions depends on the customer we are working with. Some customers need a short term, cost effective solution.
Others want to invest in a future proof technology they can count on for years to come and last the life of the building. The first steps we take is to sit with our customers and really make sure we understand their needs before recommending a solution.
From there, we do our best to educate on the regulatory climate, so they can make the most informed decision possible.
Many of our customers’ businesses do not tolerate downtime. In addition, many of our customers are located in remote locations where dispatch time for our technicians may take 3-4 hours. The way we combat this is by leveraging technology and controls to be able to remotely operate and troubleshoot the system.
If done properly, many issues can be addressed remotely without the need for a technician on site. For the instances that a technician is required, the time on site can be greatly reduced if the system can be monitored remotely to gather data while the technician is in route.
In addition, proper controls can offer our customers better energy savings, increased equipment longevity, and a reduced total cost of ownership.
